Royal Jarmon

Royal Jarmon

Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Royal Jarmon works primarily in oil on canvas, with graphite and mixed media on paper and occasional sculpture. The practice is grounded in sustained live drawing, filtered through cubism and distortion, in pursuit of the figure and, more broadly, the human condition. Jarmon has kept a studio in Brooklyn for twelve years. Over that time the work has been shown in New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and Barcelona, and has appeared in magazines and residency programs. Across media, the emphasis remains on the figure — observed, taken apart, and reassembled — as a way of holding attention on what it means to be a body in a room.
